BANGALORE: In keeping with its proposal to construct more skywalks in the city to make the roads safer for people, mayor Sharadamma, deputy mayor S Harish and commissioner Siddaiah laid the foundation for a new skywalk with lift on KG Road on Wednesday.BBMP had earlier announced its plan to construct 54 new skywalks with elevators as a safety measure in the city. On Wednesday morning, they conducted the ‘Bhoomi Puja’ on the new skywalk’s construction site on KG Road.This new skywalk will also have an elevator that will be built on the Design, Build, Operate and Transfer model. BBMP plans to get back its investment on these skywalks through advertisements.The decision to construct a skywalk on KG Road is a result of a Public Interest Litigation filed by Subbareddy. The tender for this construction has been given to M/s Rajdeep through e-procurement.
