The Central Industrial Security Force should be in the forefront of dealing with terror groups and Naxalites who are using advanced techniques to cause great loss to the lives and property in the country, Union home minister Sushil Kumar Shinde has said.

On his maiden visit to a police establishment after taking charge as the Union home minister, Shinde took part in the passing-out parade by assistant commandants and sub-inspectors who completed their training at the National Industrial Security Academy, a centre of excellence in industrial security management, at Hakimpet near here on Saturday.

Shinde said advanced technologies were being adopted by terror groups and Naxalites to make their attacks more gruesome and lethal.

“The scope and impact of extremist attacks have gone through radical changes. He said the shifting of the Fire Services Training Institute from Deoli in Rajasthan to Hyderabad and its amalgamation with NISA added a new dimension to the profile of the academy.

“NISA has been identified as one of the nodal training institutions for management of nuclear, biological and chemical disasters,’’ Shinde said.

A total number of 115 assistant commandants and 338 sub-inspectors completed their training at the academy.

Shinde presented the President’s Police Medal for Distinguished Service, President’s Fire Service Medal for Distinguished Service, Police Medal for Meritorious Service and Fire Service Medal to the CISF officers and personnel.

Later, the trainees presented a spectacular show of their skills in VIP security and aerobics which awed the dignitaries and other visitors.
