Childrens film festival begins
The seventh International Childrens Film Festival was inaugurated here on Monday..

BANGALORE: The Chief Minister DV Sadananda Gowda said on Monday that his government is working towards improving various sectors in the state, a major sector being children’s films. He spoke after the inauguration of the  Seventh International Children’s Film Festival organised by Children’s India at the Devaraja Urs Bhavan.Earlier, there was a spectacular inaugural dance by the students of  East West Public School to kick start the festival on the right note. A few renowned faces in the city made their appearances to support the festival. Among them were well-known Kannada stars Sudeep and Raagini Dwivedi who interacted with the children. Sudeep, remembering of his childhood days, said, “There is always a child in us. No matter how old we grow or what we have become, being a child again is something everyone wishes for. Sometimes, I think children’s movies are better than the movies that I make. I lose myself completely when I am watching a children’s movie. I feel that, those movies have more depth and meaning in them. The directors of children’s films are simply amazing.”He advised students to respect their teachers. “A student is never complete without his teacher. I am what I am today because of my teachers. If you grow famous tomorrow, it is because of your teachers who train you and guide you all the way,” he said. However, actress Raagini had to cut short her speech to just greeting the audience to make way for the Chief Minister’s entry. The two actors shared a few laughs with students of the East West Public School and spent time interacting with them. Several international filmmakers participated.  On Monday, the screening of an Iranian short film titled The Sound of My Foot stole the show and made for  an interesting viewing. There will be over 100 national and  international short films which will be screened over the next of four days (January 9 to January 13) from 10 am onwards at Devaraja Urs Bhavan, Vasantnagar.
