HYDERABAD: Haiii sir.. I think dis is d right platfrm fr our public 2 share our views nd problems wid u.., posts a well-meaning Thejaswini Theja. Ramakrishna Kurumella is equally excited. Welcome to facebook sir, this the best way for interacting with us, he writes. Agrees Dharmendra Maddala with his own take: Sir this is tha place 2 know tha problems of tha comman man welcome to facebook sir. Several others like Suraram Vinay post personal problems in the hope of getting some relief. All these posts are on the Wall of no less a person than Chief Minister Nallari Kiran Kumar Reddy on Facebook. But pause a second before you join them in congratulating the Chief Minister or posting your own problem on his Wall. Kiran Kumar Reddy is not on Facebook. Though he had said he would like to get hooked to Facebook at a recent function at the social networking site’s office in Hyderabad, he has not done so. It appears that some mischievous elements created fake accounts in his name. There are least four profiles in his name. One was started by a certain Alli Rajasekhara Reddy. Thousands of youngsters have mistaken these fake accounts for real ones. One such account has 2,852 followers, another has 558 and yet another 114. The imposters are making friends and passing off as the CM! Waking up to this online “identity theft”, the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO) on Thursday clarified that Kiran Kumar Reddy doesn’t have a facebook account but that he would open one shortly. It’s also writing to the Facebook management to get the fake profiles blocked.
