CHENNAI: The making of the world’s largest apron, an attempt by Ambadi Enterprises to break a Guinness World Record was a testimony to their team spirit and aspiration. This momentous task is all set to put Ambadi Enterprises, who are part of the Murugappa Group, as a world leader in aprons.The all-white apron, which was on display at the YMCA grounds on Wednesday, is expected to beat the current Guinness record held by a Spanish manufacturer since 2007.M Murugappan, Vice-Chairman of Murugappa industries, said, “This is a great moment for us. This making of the apron for the Guinness record shows the team’s aspiration. This is also a proud moment for India.”The apron measured about 25 metres x 22 metres, with a total fabric area of 853 square metres. The fabric was bleached at Erode and the outline sketched at Gurgaon. Finally, the cutting, stitching and printing was done at their Kannur unit in Kerala. A team of 26 women spent 182 days to cut the fabric and a stitching team another 40.Vishy Shenoy, Business Head, Ambadi Enterprises, said, “We hope this exercise will help us position our brand in the minds of the buyers.
