NEW DELHI: The CPM may be in the midst of a raging political storm in the aftermath of the murder of T P Chandrsekharan, but the central leadership has decided to continue with its dormant wait-and-watch policy for some more time. That CPM leaders’ silence despite direct attack on the party’s character is something quite unexpected.  CPM Idukki district secretary M M Mani had landed the party in a mess with his speech that there had been instances of the party killing its political rivals. The speech sparked a raging political row in the country with the Congress and BJP saying it exposed the party’s ‘politics of violence’.  The CPM, which issues statements on almost every political issue, national or international, has been uncharacteristically silent despite persistent questioning from the media on Sunday. “There is nothing to comment. The issue will be discussed in the Central Committee meeting which will be held on June 9 and 10,’’ said a CPM leader. This silence is partly due to lack of options and partly due to the fact that state leadership does not pay much attention to the central leadership. This was proven by the fact that despite the diktat from the politburo that there should not be any public statement on TP murder till the Neyyatinkara byelection, the party leaders in Kerala have been issuing statements a dime a dozen.
