Goa: Films may be the focus of the ongoing 38th International Film Festival, but it is the cameras that are grabbing a lot of attention this time.
It is a walk down camera history lane as one glances through an array of film cameras lined up at the Behind The Frames expo by the films division. Apart from films in the 38th IFFI in Goa, one can feast ones eyes on these cameras that give quite a grand perspective of how films have been shot over the decades.
“We got this equipment here because film students could get an opportunity to watch this equipment on how films were shot in the olden days. However, now things are done differently. All you need to do is press a button," says Kuldeep Sinha ,Chief Producer, Films Division.
From a bomb spotting camera that was used to shoot aircraft bombs, to the bolex and the 800 mm lens used to shoot cricket matches, there's quite a lot for the tech geeks here.
If you thought that filmmaking was an easy job, then one needs to think again. Filmmakers including Guru Dutt shot their films on cameras such as this Mitchell camera that weighed more than 50 kgs.
So if the films were not catching your attention at the festival, the exhibition would certainly catch your eye.
