Call to strive for excellence in manufacturing

KOCHI: Improving the customer's delight by reducing defects in the manufactured products should be the aim of the manufacturers, Heavy Engineering Corporation Ltd chairman and managing Director G K Pillai has said.India has got the potential to become the best global manufacturing hub, Pillai said while inaugurating a seminar on 'Manufacturing excellence for competitive advantage'. The seminar was organised by the Indian Institution of Industrial Engineering Kerala Chapter here the other day.Pillai is also the chairman and managing director of HMT Ltd. Indian Institution of Industrial Engineering Kerala chapter chairman George Sleeba, president N Sreekumar and honorary secretary K S Pratheep spoke. Various sessions on the seminar theme were handled by the captains of industry such as Cochin Shipyard Ltd chairman and managing director Commodore K Subramaniam, Binani Zinc Ltd chief executive officer K K Roy Kurian and AVT McCormick Ingredients Ltd director Sushama Srikandath. CIAL managing director C G Krishnadas Nair delivered the keynote address.
