Several rounds of bullets were fired at a businessman in Uttar Pradesh’s Ghaziabad late on Monday over an alleged political rivalry during the recent civic polls, news agency PTI reported.

The businessman, identified as Ankit, is undergoing treatment at a local hospital. Doctors said his condition was critical.

Pradeep Jatav, a relative of the businessman, said Ankit was bullied, subjected to verbal abuse, and shot multiple times.

Jatav alleged that Ankit was pressured to vote for someone, who was not his choice. As he refused, the accused tortured him.

“My nephew was shot due to political rivalry. The civic elections just took place, and while we were with our community, he was pressured to cast his vote for someone else. When he refused, he was bullied, subjected to verbal abuse, and shot multiple times. He is in critical condition,” Pradeep Jatav told PTI.
