BANGALORE: Controversy seems to be the middle name of Bangalore University when it comes to Kolar PG Centre. In a fresh turn of events, University Engineer N Putta Swamy allegedly suffered a massive heart attack on Thursday afternoon. It has been alleged that VC Dr N Prabhu Dev’s new allegation that the he had defaulted yet again in issuing a proper work order to the contractor had led to the incident. The VC, in a letter written to Syndicate members, blamed the University Engineer for “not issuing the revised agreement in stamp paper as per Schedule B and a proper work order and the drawings to the contractor.”Speaking to reporters, Shivanna, Secretary, Bangalore University SC/ST Non-Teaching Staff Association, said, “The VC has acted upon a letter he got from the contractor. He should have crosschecked before assuming that he was at fault. Knowing that he was being accused again, Putta Swamy could not take the shock and suffered a heart attack. The VC will be responsible if anything happens to him.” Putta Swamy was immediately shifted to Fortis Hospital on Cunningham Road. With the Kolar PG Centre due for a formal inauguration on March 15, this incident may delay the construction further. When contacted, the vice-chancellor refused to comment on the episode.
