Love knows no boundaries. A Nabadwip couple who are soon-to-be husband and wife stands true to this centuries-old belief. A Brazillian girl travelled over 15,000 kilometres to marry her love in Nabadwip city of Nadia district in West Bengal.
Karthik Mondal, a resident of the Forest Danga area of Nabadwip city used to work in Surat, Gujarat. While staying there, he met Manuela Alves da Silva, a resident of Brazil on social media four years ago.
Karthik said that after they decided to get engaged, his lover, Manuela Alves da Silva came to his home in Nabadwip. They are reportedly getting married on Friday, June 28. Marriage will take place as per traditional Bengali customs. The arrangement of the wedding has already started at the home of Karthik. The wedding pandal is already in motion.
The distance can be travelled but the language barrier is one of the obstacles which will remain for a long time between the bride and groom’s family. Addressing this issue, the Mandal family said that they are using the Google Translate app to converse with the bride.
They type their words in the Bengali language in the app which further translates them into English for the bride. The family of the couple agreed to the marriage and are looking forward to the wedding. The parents of Manuela Alves da Silva are set to visit Nabadwip to attend the marriage and give blessings to the couple.
While talking to Local18, Manuela Alves da Silva said that she loves wearing sarees as per the Indian culture. She is currently enjoying the Bengali food but without the spice. The neighbours are excited about the marriage. It will be the first time for them to attend such a wedding where a bride has travelled long distances to marry her love.
