Five BJP youth wing activists were injured, one of them critically, as police lathicharged them when they went to hand over a memorandum to Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot during a public rally on Tuesday.
BJP condemned the attack on its cadres and called for a bandh in Bundi on Wednesday.
About 50 supporters of Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha reached the rally venue at Krishi Upaj Mandi here and started raising slogans after being denied permission to submit a memorandum to the Chief Minister over 'poor' state of tourism infrastructure in Bundi, when police resorted to lathicharge.
"The attack is condemnable and we call for a bandh in Bundi tomorrow," BJP Bundi president Kalulal Jhanjid said.
When asked about the lathicharge on the activists, Superintendent of Police Mohammad Allam Tarik said, "It was the need of the hour.
