BHUBANESWAR: Squirming over the silence of senior leader LK Advani on corruption in Naveen Patnaik Government and speculation of a possible alliance with the BJD in future, the State BJP on Tuesday went into a huddle. The core committee of the party unanimously resolved to thwart any such move by the central leadership. But the State BJP leadership seems to forget that there are no permanent friends or enemies in politics. The party has decided not to compromise on the issue of alliance with the ruling BJD in the next general election, BJP State  president Jual Oram told this  paper.Members of the core committee reportedly expressed displeasure over Advani’s silence on the Chief Minister when the party had kicked off a public movement against the BJD Government. The Jan Chetna Yatra has not only confused the party workers but put a break on the ‘Bhrastachar Hatao Abhijan’ undertaken by the party in the State, said a party insider.BJP president Nitin Gadkari had opposed  any alliance with the BJD when he launched the anti-corruption movement here in February, national BJP general secretary Dharmendra Pradhan reportedly told the meeting.Pradhan further said the central leadership has left the decision to the  State unit. Any decision of the State unit needs to be ratified by the central parliamentary board which is chaired by Gadkari. Advani is only a member of the parliamentary board. Even if he expressed his desire for an alliance with the BJD, this must be approved by the parliamentary board which seems very much unlikely at this moment, he said.As majority members vehemently opposed the idea of an alliance with the BJD which ditched the BJP just before the last general election, senior leader Bijay Mohaptra sought to know if the party has come to a position to decline the offer of alliance from BJD.The party can spurn such an offer from a position of strength. The party should assess its organisational strength before taking any decision of alliance with BJD or any other party, he reportedly advised. The meeting decided to convey the feelings of the party on the issue of alliance with BJD to the central leadership. The meeting presided by Oram was attended by BB Harichandan, KV Singhdeo, Jayanarayan Mishra, Surama Padhi, Panchanan Rout, Suresh Pujari, Nayan Mohanty, Basanta Panda and P Harichandan.
