After being ignored for the T20 World Cup 2024 and white-ball series against Sri Lanka earlier this month, star Indian wicketkeeper-batter Ishan Kishan is making his comeback to competitive cricket in the Buchi Babu Trophy. He was named the captain of Jharkhand, and in the first match, Ishan lived up to his reputation. He produced a good show both with the bat and his wicketkeeping to help Jharkhand win the match against Madhya Pradesh by 2 wickets.
The 26-year-old stumper scored a century (114 runs) in the first inning and then remained unbeaten on 41 runs from 58 balls in the second inning to help his side chase down the target of 174 runs.
In the 55th over of the run chase, Ishan smashed MP spinner Akash Rajawat for two sixes on the second and fourth deliveries to help his side win the first match of the tournament.
The clip of Ishan keeping his nerves calm and taking his side through is now going viral on the internet.

Earlier in the first inning, the left-handed batter scored 114 runs from 107 balls. He smacked five fours and 10 sixes during his stay at the crease.
Ishan last played for India in November
Ishan, who made his international debut for India in March 2021 during a T20I match against England in Ahmedabad, last played for India on November 28, 2023, against Australia in Guwahati. He was picked in the Indian team for the Test series against South Africa as well in December, but he pulled out of the assignment due to personal reasons.
The former India U-19 captain, who was part of the Indian team that reached the ODI World Cup final last year, was left out of the central contract list earlier this year after he skipped Ranji Trophy matches.
After playing in the Buchi Babu Trophy, Ishan will be seen in action for India D in the Duleep Trophy, which is set to start on September 5 in Andhra Pradesh. Star middle-order batter Shreyas Iyer was appointed as India D captain by the BCCI on August 14.
