HYDERABAD: In bid to attract passengers and to improve revenues, the AP State Road Transport Corporation is planning to serve food to passengers who undertake night journey. The APSRTC managing director B Prasada Rao has given clearance to the proposal of providing food to passengers in buses. The service is already being run on routes like Visakhapatnam- Chennai and Visakhapatnam- Bangalore, Visakhapatnam to Tirupati and Vishakapatnam to Hyderabad where it was started a week back. According to the selected menu, passengers can choose from chicken biriyani, vegetable biriyani, idli, puri-sabzi, curd rice,chapati with chicken curry, chapati with vegetable curry and pulka with vegetable curry.According to officials, the prices being charged in Visakapatnam are— Chicken biriyani at Rs 110, Chapati with chicken curry Rs 110, one plate idli Rs 25, Pulka with vegetable curry Rs 75, Chapati with vegetable curry Rs 40 and curd rice for Rs 50.Executive director, APSRTC, Nagaraju said the response has been good from passengers in Visakhapatnam and they were planning to extend it in remaining districts. He said when the passenger purchase the ticket, they can order the food according to their choice.
