A migrant worker from Bihar was found dead with bullet injuries in Jammu and Kashmir’s Shopian district, officials said on Friday. The locals found the body with wounds on the roadside and alerted the police.
The local police took cognisance of the matter and launched a probe. They confirmed that a dead body of a non-local was found in the Zainpora area of Shopian district and the reason behind the death is being ascertained.
The victim, identified as Ashok Chauhan, was a labourer from Bihar who had been working in the Shopian district of Jammu and Kashmir. He was the son of Kuldeep Chauhan.
The police sources added that the dead body had bullet injuries and the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) team collected evidence from the spot. The body of the victim was shifted to a hospital.
The killing of non-locals in the Jammu and Kashmir region has been a major concern for security forces. In April, two non-local labourers were killed by the terrorists.
The incident unfolded just two days after National Conference (NC) leader Omar Abdullah took oath as the Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir.
