It is a day which carries huge importance in Salman Khan's life. For the Supreme Court will produce the final hearing on Black Buck poaching case, and a Mumbai court will continue the hearing on the 14-year long hit-and-run case which allegedly involved the actor today.
Khan has been sentenced to five years in jail by a trial court for his involvement in the Black Buck case and is currently out on bail. He has been accused of hunting and killing two Chinkara deer and a black buck during shooting for a film in Rajasthan. The actor had on August 27 filed an affidavit arguing that as he was one of the highest tax paying citizen of the country, he should be allowed to travel around the world to practice his occupation.
As far as 2002 hit and run case is concerned, a witness identified the actor and had told the court that he saw Salman taking the driver's seat in the previous hearing. The witness, a JW Mariott parking assistant had said that the actor got behind the wheel of the landcruiser at the hotel. He had also stated that Salman tipped him Rs 500 adding that he was accompanied by 3 friends.
The hit and run incident dates back to 2002 in which one person had died while four others had been injured. Salman was charged with an additional charge of culpable homicide not amounting to murder that is liable for a 10-year sentence.
There have been several twists and turns in the 12-year hit and run case in the past too. In August, 2014, the Mumbai Police had told the court that the case diary has gone missing in addition to 55 of the 63 case related documents which were already missing.
The court has asked the prosecution to file a report on the next plan of action.
The court has also directed the former investigating officer, Kisan Shengal, to be present at the next hearing scheduled on September 12.
