HYDERABAD: Pro-Telangana students on Monday blocked the convoy of higher education minister Damodara Rajanarsimha at Vikarabad leading to a mild tension. According to police, the minister was on a personal visit to Ananta Padmanabha temple on Anantagiri Hills. As his convoy reached Anantagiri, students tried to block the minister's convoy.Holding placards in support of a separate Telangana state, the students tried to obstruct the convoy but police whisked them away. “Five students were taken into preventive custody and later let off,'' Vikarabad police said.Meanwhile, Telangana Vidyarthi Ikya Vedika had threatened to disrupt the Telangana Telugu Desam Forum’s 'Telangana Ranabheri' to be held at Tandur on June 10. The Ikya Vedika's activists were beaten up by TDP activists when they went to the party's Mahanadu recently.“We take it as a challenge and we would disrupt the meeting at any cost. We will not allow TDP legislator A Revanth Reddy, who brandished a gun against Telangana activists during the party's meeting at Karimnagar, to come to Tandur,'' Ikya Vedika state president Mahesh said.
