HYDERABAD: The city is once again getting into a ‘bandh mode’ following a two-day bandh call given by the Telangana Joint Action Committee. For the next two days, the city is expected to come to a grinding halt and the state intelligence wing has already passed on inputs to the city police suggesting that the pro-Telangana agitators might create disturbance in some parts of the city. All schools and colleges across the city would be closed fearing trouble from the agitators and some of the institutions have already made the announcement.Public transport may also be paralysed as most of auto unions have declared their support to the bandh call. Similar is the case with the APSRTC which has decided to withdraw long distance services between Hyderabad and Vijayawada and Hyderabad-Kurnool routes. However, the running of buses in the twin cities would be decided based on the situation on Tuesday. MMTS services also have been cancelled on the Secunderabad-Falaknuma sector from Monday midnight to 12 noon on Tuesday as a precautionary measure.All petrol pumps, shops and establishments are likely to down their shutters for most part of the day. Several corporate companies are also expected to close their offices at least on Tuesday. Telangana Advocates Joint Action Committee also gave a call to the advocates to abstain from work.Prohibitory orders in cityMeanwhile, minutes after TJAC announced its call for a two-day bandh, Hyderabad police commissioner AK Khan imposed prohibitory orders (Sec 144) across the city instead of the earlier decision to impose prohibitory orders only around the secretariat, CM camp office, Hyderabad and Ranga Reddy collectorates. The prohibitory orders will be in force from July 5 to 11.Large number of paramilitary forces and greyhounds have already been deployed in the city. “Forces are geared up to face any untoward situation in OU, the hotbed for Telangana agitation,” AK Khan said.Chief minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy on Monday reviewed bandobust in the city with Hyderabad police commissioner AK Khan and Intelligence Chief M Mahendar Reddy following the TJAC bandh call.
