CHENNAI: Musicians praised ‘Vaggeyakara’ Dr M Balamuralikrishna for his unique contribution to the world of Carnatic music and felicitated him on his 81st birthday in Chennai on Sunday. Chennai Fine Arts organ ised the event inviting notable musicians T R Subramaniyan and Suguna Purushothaman, who have acquaintance with Balamuralikrishna, to share their views on his remarkable talent in music.“In the history of mankind, there were only certain things with strategic importance. Based on those events only we study history of the world like BC and AD, pre-war and post-war, and in music its pre-trinity and post-trinity. Similarly, future generations will study Carnatic music as pre-Balamurali and post-Balamurali period because he introduced many new forms in music by incorporating his intelligence,” said Subramaniyan. He also sung some of Balamuralikrishna’s extraordinary compositions.
