Patel had allegedly refused to pay an extortion amount to Jegan. The rowdy was later brought to Puducherry from Karaikal Sub-Jail for interrogation by the police.During the interrogation, the businessman had received another threat through a phone call to his office on August 7 that said unless Patel paid up the demanded amount, he would be killed.
