The entire incident lasted for about seven to 10 minutes. Senior SP (L&O), Parvez Ahmed, Superintendents of police  and other officials rushed to the spot.Jegan was recently arrested in connection with a bomb attack on Narshi Patel, a businessman and owner of Lakshmi Saw mills on 100 feet road on July 26. Patel had allegedly refused to pay an extortion amount to Jegan. The rowdy was later brought to Puducherry from Karaikal Sub-Jail for interrogation by the police.During the interrogation, the businessman had received another threat through a phone call to his office on August 7 that said unless Patel paid up the demanded amount, he would be killed.
