On the auspicious occasion of Revati Nakshatra, Sri Bhoo Varahanatha Swamy Temple in Kattahalli, Karnataka was decked up and special abhishekas were performed with utmost pomp and fervour. The ambience of the temple was filled with the echoes of the chants as devotees actively participated in the rituals and puja.
Krishnaraja Pete, colloquially known as KR Pete is a municipality and a taluk in the Mandya district of Karnataka. On the occasion of Revati Nakshatra, a special puja was conducted for Sri Lakshmi Varaha Swamy along with Sri Bhoo Devi was held here. Sri Suvidhyendra Teertha Maha Swamiji of Mantralaya was also at the temple. Devotees and followers of the spiritual leader thronged to the temple to participate in the puja rituals.
There is a unique 17-foot-tall statue or monolith of Sri Bhoo Varahanatha Swamy that has been carved out of a single piece of Shaligram stone. This stone idol was anointed with the holy Ganga water, thousands of litres of milk, 500 litres of coconut water and sugarcane juice each, ghee, honey and curd. Apart from this, the idol was also applied sandalwood paste and turmeric and then the Lord was worshipped.
At the puja, 58 types of flowers including Jasmine, Tuber Rose, Champa, Parijaat, Chrysanthemum, Tulsi, Rose and Lotus were offered for abhishek of the lord. The devotees worshipped the deity with utmost dedication and prayed for happiness and good health.
As per the scriptures, Sri Bhoo Varahanatha Swamy is believed to be the God of resolving land disputes. He is also known to grant the wishes of devotees who please Him with their unwavering devotion. Further, devotees also pray to Him in hopes of someday having a home of their own.
To protect Bhu Devi from a demon, Lord Vishnu took up the avatar of Varaha, wild board and brought Her back to her rightful place. This auspicious moment is the Revati Nakshatra.
