New Delhi: In a bid to increase its market share and compete with rivals in the mid-range smartphone category, Apple reintroduced its 4-year-old smartphone, iPhone 4 (8GB), in India at Rs 22,900. The new MRP of the iPhone 4 is Rs 22,900, but some of the company's premium resellers are selling the phone at Rs 22,500. Currently, the phone is available only in black colour.

The iPhone 4 is also available on e-commerce store Flipkart.com for Rs 22,649. The website says it will be delivered in in 4-5 business days.

The phone is currently not available at all Apple stores. While some resellers have got the new stock of the iPhone 4 and have started selling the phone at a revised price, others are yet to receive the stock with the new pricing.

Last week, there were reports that Apple would introduce a buyback scheme on the iPhone 4, which could bring down its price to Rs 15,000, but currently, there is no such scheme available on the iPhone 4. In fact, there is a buyback scheme available on the Apple iPhone 4S. The iPhone 4S (8GB) is priced at Rs 31,500, but under the buyback scheme, customers can avail the benefit of up to Rs 5000 in exchange of their old smartphone, and can buy the iPhone 4S (8GB) for as low as Rs 26,500.

The company had globally discontinued the iPhone 4 last year with the launch of the iPhone 5S and iPhone 5C in September.

The iPhone 4 was earlier available in India for Rs 26,500.
