KOLLAM: Two weeks ago, srank Justine and his fellow fishermen of ‘Don 1’ were instrumental in informing the coastal police about the tragedy that had struck ‘St Antony’, when two fishermen were killed in firing from an Italian ship. In the wee hours of Thursday, the deep waters turned a death trap for Justine and his team.The boat carrying seven fishermen left Neendakara Harbour on Sunday night.‘‘The boat was equipped with mast lights, so that they could be identified even in the dark. Thus the incident has clearly resulted owing to the carelessness of the ship crew,” said Dominic Antony of Tangasseri, the co-owner of the boat (along with his brother Jacob Antony).The bodies of Xavier Antony and Justine were brought to their houses here by Thursday afternoon. Justine was laid to rest at the St Andrews Church, Kovilthottam on Thursday at 5 pm. He is survived by wife Metilda, son Maxon, 12, and daughter Tini, 10.Xavier’s body was brought to his house at Puthanthura by 2 pm. He is survived by wife Sonia and sons Antony, 14, and Alwin, 11. His funeral will be held at the Chapel at Kottankulangara on Friday at 10 am.
