Fun and frolic is what visitors to every amusement park look forward to. In the city, this is exactly what they get in various forms.
Be it the adrenaline rush of a rollercoaster or the watery fun of a wave pool, amusement parks are prepared to entertain, no matter what the time of the year is. The culture of spending a day at such places may seem to have declined over the past few years, as many other options have cropped up within the city limits, but the numbers tell a different story.
A representative from one of the most popular theme parks in the city says, “The general assumption is that theme parks are a place to visit during summer and where children are taken for excursions. However, we do have a steady flow of visitors throughout the year.”
He says that the number of people visiting theme parks definitely rises by around 20 per cent in summer, but an average of 1,500 to 2,000 people visit the place in any day.
The main attractions at these parks are the scariest rides—whether everyone gets on board or not, there is always a huge crowd standing around to watch the brave hearts who take the rides. Centrox at Queensland and the Ranger at MGM are the crowd-pullers, as those who have been on the rides testify. The rollercoaster rides are also on the list, being a perennial favourite among the visitors.
Not only do the amusement parks cater to adventure lovers, but also to those who just want to spend a day out with family and friends. Gayathri, who visits these parks frequently with her family, says, “We find it a good way to unwind, especially when relatives visit us. We can have fun and spend time together without the tension that we have to cook.”
