ALUVA: Aluva municipal vice-chairperson Lissy Abraham on Monday presented the budget for Aluva municipality for 2012-’13 envisaging a total income of `21,23,18,385. The expense for the year was put at `18,98,62,400with a balance of `2,24,55,985.HIGHLIGHTSThe highlights of the budget included installation of induction lamps, the Avenue Park project, solid waste treatment plant at slaughter houses, road near Ayurveda Hospital leading to Harithavanam and Manalpuram, beautification of municipal stadium, the second phase of Ayurveda Hospital and a permanent solution to eradicate the water stagnation at Bank Junction. A Parking Yard will be constructed at the municipal compound. The construction of a modern fish market spending `2.25 crores at the municipal market with the financial aid of Fisheries Department is nearing completion. The dilapidated municipal market will be reconstructed.With the assistance of Anwar Sadath MLA, the government will undertake the construction of a bridge across the Periyar to Manalpuram. Anwar Sadath MLA sought sanction for the construction of a bridge across Periyar Valley Canal.The council meeting was presided over by Chairman M T Jacob.
