Forest Minister K B Ganesh Kumar has submitted a letter to Chief Minister Oommen Chandy urging him to ensure that the state’s Advocate General sholud be appeared before court in the EFL cases of the Forest Department.
Ganesh wrote the letter after the office of the AG reportedly took a stance that there are competent lawyers within its fold to handle the cases and there is no need to bring lawyers from outside to fight the cases.
The Minister pointed out in the letter that many crucial cases, related to the Forest Department, were not being handled effectively by the government lawyers, eventually getting defeated in the recent past.
The Advocate General himself should appear in the crucial cases and the services of senior lawyers, even from outside the state if necessary, should be ensured, he said.
