After Monday's Arson and Looting, Uneasy Calm Prevails in Bengaluru
All offices and educational institutions are closed for Bakrid on Tuesday and likely to remain shut for two more days.

Bengaluru: After police imposed curfew in almost all of riot hit western parts of Bengaluru, there have been no reports of fresh incidents of violence from any part of the city.

After showing restraint all through the day, police opened fire at the miscreants on Monday evening killing one youth and injuring four others. It scared the arsonists and the looting suddenly stopped by night.

After an emergency meeting with Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, the police imposed curfew in 16 police station limits - all in western parts of Bengaluru. Section 144 which prohibits crowding and processions has been imposed across the city for two days.

All offices and educational institutions are closed for Bakrid on Tuesday and likely to remain shut for two more days.

The city's bus services have also been hit causing a huge problem to commuters. Namma Metro has also suspended its operations till afternoon.

More than 30,000 police constables are on the streets maintaining law and order. Central forces have also been rushed to the city.

All interstate bus services between Karnataka and Tamil Nadu have also been suspended.

The KSRTC has halted bus services in southern parts of the state.

Siddaramaiah has once again appealed for calm and warned against arson and looting. In a recorded message he said, "strictest action will be take against such people. No mercy will be shown to hooligans".
