New Delhi: Actor Will Smith made son Jaden perform scenes with real snakes in their upcoming sci-fi movie 'After Earth'.
The movie revolves around the time when everyone has fled the Earth and a lot of scenes were shot in dense forest areas of Costa Rica.
"There are these snakes called fer-de-lances, and a fer-de-lance is the second most poisonous snake on the earth. We had snake wranglers on the set, six guys (who) would just walk around all the time and go thump!" Will explained in a statement.
"So there was a scene, and the snake wrangler came over and said, 'You know the tree that Jaden's about to do the shot in? We got a few snakes'. I said, 'Well, like two?' He said, 'We got maybe five today. You know, there's other trees'.
"Jaden comes on the set and I was like, 'Well, let's just roll, we're here. Jaden, quick, just get up there, just get the scene! Now that I think about it, we shouldn't have done a couple of those shots," Will added.
This is not for the first time Will and Jaden have performed in the same movie. They have shared screen space in 2006 movie 'The Pursuit of Happyness'.
Directed by US-based Indian-orignin director M. Night Shyamalan, the movie will see Will and Jaden as estranged father and son who crash-land on an abandoned planet. The movie is set to release June 7.
Shyamalan, who started his cinematic journey with a drama titled 'Praying with Anger', has excelled in making thrillers. From superhero thriller 'Unbreakable' and science fiction 'Signs' to supernatural horror 'The Sixth Sense' and fantasy adventure 'The Last Airbender', he has tried it all.
The film is hitting the Indian screens with 'Yamla Pagla Deewana 2', and thus it will face a stiff competition at the box-office.
