THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The family members of Malabar Cements former company secretary Saseendran and the Janakeeya Action Council would go on a fast in front of the Secretariat on April 11 demanding intensifying the probe into the mysterious death of Saseendran and his two children. Saseendran and his children were found hanging in their house on January 24 last year, three days after the Vigilance submitted the final chargesheet in the court on the Malabar Cements corruption case. Announcing the decision to go on a fast at a press conference here, action committee vice-chairman Joy Kaitharath said that  besides the demand for stepping up the ongoing CBI probe, they would seek the govt to revoke its decision to exonerate former Chief Secretary John Mathai in the case as well demand a probe by the Director of Revenue Intelligence into the amassing of wealth by controversial industrialist V M Radhakrishnan. The action committee members alleged that despite the High Court order directing the police to probe into all the aspects behind the death of the three, the government had ordered a limited investigation. The Vigilance had registered four cases on the Malabar Cements corruption case in the Thrissur Vigilance Court based on the audit report and C&AG report of 2006.  Eleven people including former Chief Secretary John Mathai, N Krishna Kumar and T Padmanabhan Nair were listed as the accused.   “The government’s view that John Mathai had no knowledge about the Rs 100 crore scam although he was the company chairman for 12 continuous years is an act of fooling the people,” they said.
