Harud has been filmed on location in Srinagar

Actor-turned-director Aamir Bashir's film Harud (Autumn) has been shot entirely in Srinagar, Kashmir.

Iranian actor Reza Naji plays the lead in the film. Reza has acted in Majid Majidi's films like Children of Heaven, Baran and Song of Sparrows - for which he won Best Actor at the Berlin Film Festival in 2008. Local Kashmiri actors comprise the rest of the cast.

The film will be going to the Rotterdam Film Festival next year.

The story of Harud:

Rafiq and his family are struggling to come to terms with the loss of his older brother Tauqir, a tourist photographer, who is one of the thousands of young men who have disappeared since the onset of the militant insurgency in Kashmir.

After an unsuccessful attempt to cross the border into Pakistan, to become a militant, Rafiq returns home to an aimless existence. Until one day he finds his brother's old camera....
