ANANTAPUR: Five lakh ration cards and six lakh pensions will be distributed in the state in the second phase of Rachabanda programme which will commence on November 2.Disclosing this at a public meeting held at the Rayadurgam Junior College Grounds on Friday, chief minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy said that based on the applications received during the first phase of Rachabanda, the new ration cards and pensions would be issued.On an average, 2,000 pensions per constituency will be issued.Admitting that lack of rains had badly affected farmers in the state, he announced `1 lakh interest-free loans to each farmer for the Rabi season.Stating that farmers in Anantapur district had been suffering from deficit rainfall for the past five years, he said the government was doing everything to help them and appealed to farmers not to resort to suicides.“We are laying emphasis on micro-irrigation in the district, that is irrigation through drip and sprinkler systems, construction of check dams, etc.Through these means we plan to irrigate 60,000 acres in the district,” he said.The chief minister, who launched Indira Jala Prabha at BN Halli village in Rayadurgam mandal, said that when Indira Gandhi was prime minister, she had distributed lands to people belonging to Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes in the region.However, those lands were not developed for various reasons.Now they will be developed with Indira Jala Prabha.Horticultural crops will be encouraged.“The programme has been taken up in a phased manner in the state and `1,800 crore has been allocated for the purpose,” he said.Stating that the government was facilitating crop insurance to the farmers and input subsides to those who had not received crop insurance, he said the government was always there for the welfare of the farmers.Pointing out that the garment industry was flourishing in the Rayadurgam area, Reddy said that once the Rayadurgam-Tumkur railway line was completed, the area would attract more industries.“Because of its proximity to Bangalore, Anantapur district has immense industrial potential.Hence the government's plan for more industries here.'' The chief minister reiterated that the government was determined to provide 1.16 lakh government jobs by this year-end and facilitate five lakh jobs a year for the next three years through Rajiv Yuva Kiranalu.Earlier, when Rayadurgam MLA and YSR Congress leader K Ramachandra Reddy said that his constituency was underdeveloped and the roads, there were in a bad shape, DCC president Patil Venugopal Reddy intervened and remarked that the condition of the roads was made worse by the ore-transporting heavy vehicles of the Obulapuram Mining Company and Ramachandra Reddy, being part of the OMC, should know it better.Telugu Desam MLC Mettu Govind Reddy also underlined the need for development of roads and other infrastructure in the constituency which he said was less developed than others.Responding to their requests, the chief minister announced sanction of `50 crore for roads in the area.Railway Minister Dinesh Trivedi, minsiter of state for railways Munniyappa, state ministers, M Venkataramana, Manikya Varaprasad, N Raghuveera Reddy and S Sailajanath, Anantapur MP A Venkatarami Reddy, district collector V Durgadas, joint collector Anita Ramachandran, SP Shah Nawaz Qasim and others were present.Bonanza for Rayadurgam, Anantapur dist* Rs. 50 cr for roads in Rayadurgam area * More industries after completion of the Rayadurgam-Tumkur rail line * Micro projects for irrigation of 60,000 acres in district
