HYDERABAD: In a bid to improve its revenues, the Andhra Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation has decided to gain income from sources other than its core business of passenger transport.Facing a severe fund crunch, the transport utility has constructed four commercial complexes in and around the city to tide over losses which stood at Rs 1,800 crore. The commercial complexes in ECIL, Patancheru, Kukatpally and Koti have been constructed at a cost of Rs 40 crore. The ECIL commercial complex was inaugurated in January 2010 and getting a revenue of Rs 90,000 per month through shops for rent.The Patancheru commercial complex was inaugurated in May but the space has not been given for rent so far. The Kukatpally and Koti complexes are ready for inauguration. RTC officials are expecting Rs 40 lakh as revenue per month through the four complexes.The APSRTC Greater Hyderabad zone executive director Purusotham Naik said about 1,66,690 lakh square feet commercial area is available in the four complexes. He added that two more commercial complexes are under construction in Farroqnagar and Midhani. Commercial complexes would be allotted through tender to anyone, Naik said.
