HYDERABAD: All the 32 Telangana Telugu Desam Party (TDP) MLAs have submitted their resignations afresh. As per the decision of Telangana Telugu Desam Forum (TTDF), the MLAs went to the Assembly at 10 am. They waited till 5 p.m for the arrival of Congress and TRS MLAs. As the Congress and TRS MLAs did not turn up to resubmit their resignations, the 32 TDP legislators went to the speaker’s office and submitted their resignations to the Assembly secretary. The TTDF demanded that MLAs of all the parties resubmit their resignations en masse which would only bring pressure on the Centre. But, the Congress and TRS MLAs did not respond to the TDP’s appeal.Of the total 33 TDP MLAs, Kamareddy legislator Gampa Govardhan did not attend the TTDF meeting. Govardhan is planning to quit the TDP to join the TRS.It may be recalled that Assembly speaker Nadendla Manohar rejected the resignations of 141 MLAs a few months ago. Later, the TRS MLAs faxed their resignations. After the launch of Sakala Janula Samme, Telangana people had stepped up pressure on Congress and TDP MLAs to quit their posts for the T cause. However, the TTDF leaders are of the view that if TDP MLAs alone submitted their resignations it would result in byelections. Hence, all the MLAs of Telangana region should resubmit their resignations en masse which would cause a constitutional crisis in the state, the TTDF leaders said. The TTDF set September 28 as the deadline for the Congress MLAs to resubmit their resignations. As there was no response from the Congress MLAs, the TDP legislators alone resubmitted resignations.Speaking to reporters later, TTDF convenor E Dayakar Rao said their resignations should cause a constitutional crisis in the state. “We urged Congress and TRS MLAs to come along with us to resubmit resignations. But there was no response from them. We submitted our resignations after waiting for the Congress MLAs till the evening,” Dayakar Rao said.
