Twenty-one children from the Saraswati Vidya Niketan School, Ayyanthole, were injured after their school bus skidded off the road and fell into a nearby paddy field, near Kuttur in Thrissur, on Friday.
A teacher and the bus driver were also injured in the accident. The injured have been admitted to a private hospital in Thrissur.
According to the Viyyur police, the van skidded off the road after the driver lost control of the vehicle while manoeuvring a light curve.
Most of the injured were discharged after being given first-aid at the hospital. Some students suffered minor fractures.
The police have taken the driver into custody and charged him with rash driving. The police said that they would intensify their measures to ensure safety of school children.
