Two youths were killed when the bike in which they were travelling was hit by an inter-district bus at Oorakam Centre near here on Monday midnight.
According to Cherpu police, the deceased are Shine, 20, son of Shaji Panagnadu of Pullur and Dipu, 21, son of Davis Maliekkal, Vellangallur.
“The duo was returning home after attending a function in one of their friends house near the accident place and the incident took place around 1 am,” the police said.
“The bus, which was on its way to Kattapana from Thaliparamba, rammed into the bike head-on and the victims, who got stuck in the truck wheel, were dragged to some distance,” officials said. Though the victims were rushed to a nearby hospital they succumbed to the injuries before reaching there. The bodies were handed over to the relatives after conducting the postmortem examination on Tuesday and the Cherppu police have registered a case against the bus driver for culpable homicide. ENS
