13 killed in Bokaro landmine blast
The blast took place at Kanjairo, Bokaro when the STF jawans were returning from an official assignment.

Ranchi: Thirteen police personnel were killed and three others injured in a powerful landmine blast triggered by Naxals near Kanchkiro in Bokaro district on Saturday.

A police Assistant Sub-Inspector, two havildars and ten jawans of the Special Task Force died when their vehicle drove over the landmine, DIG Anil Palta said.

The securitymen were returning in their vehicle after a long-range patrolling when the incident occurred in the Naxal infested area, according to police sources.

The Jharkhand police, helped by the CRPF jawans, had last week destroyed three bunkers of the Naxalites in the Jhumra hill in the same district.

Once a Naxal den, police have managed to drive out the extremists from Jhumra hill with round-the-clock vigil in the area.
