Thiruvananthapuram: Four youths are feared drowned after they went for a bath in the sea and were washed away by rough waters nearby Kovalam beach, police said.
The six swimmers were reportedly bathing at the beach on Saturday night and were swept away by the rough waters. The body of one person has been recovered, one person was rescued by life guards but four people are still missing.
Marine enforcement and Coastal Police are involved in the search operation to trace the five missing persons, belonging to the age group of 21-33.
The youths, hailing from Thiruvananthapuram, had ignored the warning by police to not enter the sea in view of rough conditions and were swept away by waves at around 7 PM, police said.
The Coastal Police department has launched a search operation.
