Pakistan will begin their campaign for international glory against the Netherlands. Up until the Asia Cup, Pakistan had been in brilliant form, winning two of the three ODI series they played this year. They beat last year’s finalists, New Zealand, 4-1 at home before recording a second straight triumph over Afghanistan. However, they were eliminated in the Asia Cup at the hands of the hosts Sri Lanka in the Super Four stage.
Pakistan were also beaten in their World Cup warm-up game by Australia. It was Marnus Labuchagne who surprised the Asian side with his brilliant bowling performance as he scalped the wickets of three Pakistani batters. His impressive haul helped Australia win the match by 14 runs. Pakistan will now be looking to recover and redeem themselves in India, starting with their fixture against the Netherlands.
The Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad will host the ODI clash on October 6. The Netherlands shocked the world when they overcame the West Indies in the World Cup qualifiers in Zimbabwe. The Dutch side will be making an appearance at the marquee event after a 12-year hiatus. They will be looking to make an early impact in the competition by picking up a victory against Pakistan. A win could spark some chances of them securing playoffs.

Pakistan and Netherlands have squared off against each other six times in ODIs. Pakistan has managed to win on all of those occasions, remaining undefeated against the Dutch side. These six games include a three-match series and games from different ICC tournaments. It will be interesting to see if the Dutch side can finally pick up their first victory against the Asian Giants.
