Open Lyft. Lyft is the app that has a pink icon that says "Lyft" in white letters. Make sure you are signed in to your Lyft account.
Tap the pickup location bar. It's the white bar above the purple button at the bottom of the screen and will show the address of your current location.
Enter a pickup location. You can type an address or the name of the location you want to be picked up at, or you can tap "Current location" to set your current location as the pickup location. Location services must be turned on in order for the app to detect your current location.
Tap Set pickup. It's the purple button at the bottom of the screen.
Tap the destination bar. It's the bar that has a pink dot next to it, below the bar with the pickup location you set earlier.
Enter a destination. You can type an address or the name of the location you want to be dropped off at, or you can tap "Current location" to set your current location as the pickup location.
Tap Share the ride and save (amount). This option will appear in a purple speech bubble above the ride option if a Lyft Line is available and will display the amount of money you can save by sharing the trip. Tap the purple bubble to see the available Lyft ride options. It can take a few seconds to appear, but if it does not pop up, then a Lyft Line ride is not available for your destination during the time you want to depart.
Tap the Line ride option. It's at the top of the list of the ride and seat options and will usually be the cheapest option available.
Tap Request Line. It's the pink button at the bottom of the screen. This will request a Lyft pickup and drop off. Your driver may need to pickup a few extra passengers along the way.
