How to Use Hotkeys in YouTube
YouTube responds to keyboard shortcuts that can enhance your experience while viewing. Try these hotkeys when watching YouTube in a browser on your computer.
Steps

Change the volume. Press the up arrow on your keyboard to increase the volume. Press the down arrow to decrease the volume. Press m to mute or unmute the volume.

Change the playback position. Press the right arrow on your keyboard to skip ahead five seconds in your video playback position. Press the left arrow to skip back five seconds. Press l to skip ahead ten seconds. Press j to skip back ten seconds. Press any number between 1-9 to skip to a section of the video as divided into tenths. For example, while watching a ten-minute video, press "5" to change playback position to "5:00." Press home or 0 (zero) to skip to the beginning of the video. Press end to skip to the end.

Change the playback speed. Press ' (shift+.) to speed up playback. Press k or spacebar to pause playback. Press , (comma) to move back one frame while paused. Press . (period) to advance one frame while paused.

Try other hotkeys as keyboard shortcuts to helpful functions. Press f on your keyboard to view in fullscreen mode. Press i to toggle miniplayer mode. Press t to toggle theater mode. Press c to toggle captions. Press shift+p to return to previous playlist item. Press shift+n to skip to next playlist item. Press / to search. Cursor will move to position in search box so that you can begin typing. This works in fullscreen mode as well.
