How to Prepare for a Girl Coming over
How to Prepare for a Girl Coming over
If you’re planning on having that special someone over tonight, you want her to have a good impression of you as soon as she walks through the door. Since you want her to feel comfortable and relaxed at your place, there’s a bit you can do to spruce up and prepare for your night in. We’ll cover everything you need to know before you bring your lucky lady inside.
Steps

Make your bed with fresh sheets.

She’ll appreciate a clean and cozy bed if she’s spending the night. While you can skip the expensive sheets with high thread counts, it helps to put on a freshly washed set so they’re clean. Add some more pillows and blankets onto your bed to make it look more inviting and comfortable. Even if she doesn’t spend the night, you’ll have a comfortable place to cuddle.

Declutter your space.

Put your things away where they belong to tidy up. If you have a lot of stuff lying out in the open, take a few minutes to pick up and organize your things. Fold up blankets, put clothes away, and hide items that you don’t use often in closets or cabinets so they’re out of sight. You can always take your things back out after your date leaves, so it’s okay if you only give your things a temporary home.

Vacuum and dust.

You’ll impress her if she walks into a clean space. Quickly go through your home with a vacuum to pick up any dust and debris on the floor. Really focus on the rooms where you’re going to bring your date, like the entryway, the living room, and your bedroom. After running the vacuum through, wipe down tables and other flat surfaces with some dusting spray and clean rag.

Clean your bathroom.

Keep it spotless so she has a clean place to freshen up. Bathrooms can get gross pretty fast, so scrub the sink, shower, and toilet with some cleaning solution. When you’re finished cleaning the toilet, don’t forget to put the seat down too. Hang some clean towels, set out a small trash can, and check that there’s enough toilet paper for a few bathroom trips as your finishing touches.

Make sure your place smells good.

Tackle any bad odors before she shows up. Take out the trash and do the dishes since they can really stink up the place. If you still have any lingering odors in your place, open your windows, try using an air freshener, or plug in an essential oil diffuser to cover up the scent. Candles are great for setting the mood and keeping your room smelling great.

Take a shower.

She’ll appreciate that you look and smell your best. Lather up your shampoo and body wash and scrub yourself clean. If you want to trim or shave at all before your date arrives, you can do it while you’re in the shower too. Don’t forget to put on deodorant and a little bit of cologne to help you smell even better! If you think you’re going to get a little intimate, consider trimming your pubic hair too.

Put on a clean outfit.

Dress up like you were going out on a casual date. You don’t need to get all fancy with a button-up shirt or suit, but you shouldn’t be in sweatpants when she shows up. To give off a calm and relaxed vibe, try a simple T-shirt with a nice pair of jeans, or a henley shirt with a buttoned collar and a comfortable pair of joggers. Try layering a flannel shirt on top since she’ll be tempted to cuddle closer since you’re wearing soft fabric.

Stock your fridge with food and drinks.

Get something to munch on in case you get hungry. Ask your date if she has any favorite snacks or drinks if you have a chance so you can pick them up from the store. Otherwise, just pick up a few different chips, crackers, or desserts for her to choose from. Try to stock up on some fruits and vegetables to fill up your fridge and make it look like you take good care of yourself. If you’re planning on having her spend the night, get coffee and something to make in the morning so you can surprise her with breakfast.

Set the mood with some music.

A romantic playlist helps create a relaxing ambiance. You can find a ton of premade playlists on Apple Music or Spotify, or you can make your own using some of your favorite tunes. Pick songs that fit the mood of the night, like slow songs if you’re just chilling or faster songs if you’re doing something more active. Plug in some speakers and jam out so you can break the silence. Ask her about her favorite bands so you can surprise her by playing some of their hits.

Plan a fun activity.

Figure out something you can do together so you don’t get bored. If you just want to Netflix and chill, cuddle up with one of her favorite movies or TV shows. If you’re looking for something a little more active, take her on in a video game or play a board game. Try to make the night really exciting so she wants to spend even more time with you. You could also go through old photo albums, visit a museum virtually, or just sit and chat.

Ask your roommates for privacy.

Let them know you have a girl coming over so they don’t walk in on you. When you tell your roommates about your date, see if they can go out for the night or hang out somewhere else so you have the place to yourself. If they’re staying in, ask them to give you a little space and to avoid the rooms where you’re hanging out as much as possible. Tell your roommates to knock on the door before coming into your room or the bathroom as well.

Get contraceptives in case you get intimate.

Practice safe sex if you plan on hooking up. While you shouldn’t assume that you’ll have sex, it’s better to be prepared if you’re both in the mood. Get some condoms and spermicidal lube to help prevent unwanted pregnancies and sexually transmitted diseases (STDs). Even if the girl tells you she’s bringing protection over, have some as backups just in case. Even if you use protection during sex, there’s still always a slight chance to transmit STDs or get pregnant.

What's your reaction?
