Argentina's football legend Diego Maradona feels Lionel Messi didn't impress in this World Cup and didn't deserved to be awarded the Golden Ball.
Germany defeated Argentina 1-0 in extra time at the Maracana as Messi missed out on an easy scoring chance in the second half.
Messi played a key role to take Argentina to the finals as he was favoured for the award over Thomas Mueller, Golden Boot winner James Rodriguez and Netherland's Arjen Robben.
"Messi? I would give him heaven if possible," Maradona said in a TV show.
Maradona was also upset over Argentina's loss to Germany in the World Cup final.
"I feel sorry for my country. Mario Gotze's goal really hurt. There's a huge sadness in my heart that we lost the final," he said.
"All things put together, I think Argentina deserved at least penalties. That Germany won was the result of a misunderstanding in the Argentine defence," he also said.
