Tottenham renew ties with Indian team
Spurs continued their ties with KVSN, a Nagpur-based organisation which runs football programmes for the underprivileged.

New Delhi: Continuing their partnership with Krida Vikas Sanstha Nagpur (KVSN), the English Premier League Tottenham Hotspur renewed their association with the Indian National team, which will participate at the forthcoming 2011 Homeless Football World Cup to be held in Paris from August 21.

Spurs' involvement in the World Cup - an annual international football competition - is a continuation of the club's relationship with KVSN and their involvement in the management of Team India at previous such tournaments in Milan (2009) and Rio de Janeiro (2010).

Executive Director, Charlie Wijernatra, expressed his satisfaction over the partnership which will see the Club financing the teams' involvement in the tournament and said, "The tournament has been hugely successful in helping to provide opportunities for homeless people from all over the world and we are delighted to be a part of that."

The one of its kind tournament will be attended by 64 nations this year, including 16 teams for the women's event. India will be represented by two teams (male and female) at the competition, both organised and managed by KVSN.

Founder of KVSN, Professor Vijay Barse, too expressed his pleasure and said, "The association with Tottenham will give us access to their sporting and commercial expertise, and bring inspiration not just to our team but to other Indians who are finding hope for the future through football."

This years competition will take place on the Champs des Mars (Paris) from 21 to 28 August.

KVSN is based in Nagpur and runs football programmes to inspire and educate the most disadvantaged members of the society.
