Seville: Sevilla have fired coach Marcelino Garcia Toral after the Spanish club's seventh straight league game without a win.
Marcelino's position appeared in doubt on Sunday following a 2-1 loss to Villarreal, which left the club in 11th place with 26 points from 21 matches after five defeats in the last seven games, six points away from a Champions League spot.
Sevilla did not name a replacement for Marcelino, who was in charge for just 21 games, winning six of them.
The 46-year-old joined Sevilla at the start of the campaign, and made a promising start to his career at the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan, as they remained unbeaten in their opening nine La Liga games.
However, the ex-Racing Santander boss has since lost grip of the Rojiblancos, and the club have therefore decided to sack him to try and change their fortunes.
Marcelino is the eighth Spanish league coach fired this season.
