Milan's talks for Beckham at a critical stage: Galliani
Some reports claim Beckham may remain with AC Milan until the summer.

New Delhi: The Rossoneri official is hopeful a deal will be struck to keep the English international until at least June.

AC Milan may be having trouble on the pitch lately, but are on their way to making a major coup off the field as they look to extend the stay of midfielder David Beckham, on-loan from the Los Angeles Galaxy.

Reports from the peninsula and United States earlier on Monday indicated that 'Golden Balls' may remain with the Rossoneri until the summer, before rejoining the Los Angeles Galaxy midway through the MLS season and Milan Vice-President Adriano Galliani has added some credibility to the chatter.

"The negotiations are getting to a critical stage. I hope we manage to ensure that he remains here until at least June 30 on loan. He could then return to Los Angeles and then come back here in January [2010]," he explained, according to the Corriere dello Sport.

"We're trying to make something happen along these lines. It's complicated as we have always known, but I'm still trying. He's a very important player, who is now a bit tired. However, that's normal because he has been playing consistently."

The former Real Madrid player has enjoyed a good spell since joining Milan this January. He has scored two goals in Serie A thus far.
