Liverpool targeting Mkhitaryan for the summer transfers
The merseyside club could approach the Ukrainian club with a 20 million transfer fee as Brendan Rodgers sets his sights on his first major summer signing.

According to a report in The Daily Mail, Liverpool are closing on a deal for Shakhtar Donetsk's midfielder Henrikh Mkhitaryan.

The 24-year-old had a good show in Armenia's World Cup qualifying win over Denmark. The merseyside club could approach the Ukrainian club with a 20 million transfer fee as Brendan Rodgers sets his sights on his first major summer signing.

Mkhitaryan has become one of the most highly-rated attacking midfielders in Europe and if Liverpool can attract the player despite their absence from European football, it would be considered as a good deal for the club.

Earlier, Rodgers had made it clear that he will have the final say on who will be joining the club this year. "There is absolutely no way a player will come in here if I don't want him,' Rodgers told the Liverpool Echo.

"I will always be the first person it comes to. That's not being arrogant, that's how we operate here and how it works in this country."
