India slip down in FIFA rankings
Indian have fallen from the 142 rank to 149 since January.

New Delhi: India have fallen a place down in the latest FIFA rankings and are now in 149th position according to the latest rankings.

The national team has only played a single international match since their AFC Challenge Cup triumph in August 2008, which was the 2-1 defeat at the hands of Hong Kong in January.

It has had a serious effect on their ranking, as they have fallen from 142 to 149 since January.

Indian football fans would be hoping that the national team plays more international matches in 2009 and the All India Football Federation’s (AIFF) proposed Goal 2011 Project should give them hope.

AFC Challenge Cup finalists Tajikistan are in the 148th position.
