Former England coach Glenn Hoddle will return to football after an eight-year absence by joining the backroom staff of promoted Premier League team Queens Park Rangers.

As first-team coach, Hoddle will reportedly help with QPR manager Harry Redknapp's formation change to a 3-5-2 - a style of play Hoddle adopted when he was in charge of England from 1996-99.

Redknapp says "I decided if I was going to bring somebody in, I was going to go for somebody who was top class, and that's what Glenn is."

Hoddle's last coaching job was at second-tier club Wolverhampton Wanderers, which ended in 2006. He also managed Swindon, Chelsea, Southampton and Tottenham in the Premier League.

As a central midfielder, Hoddle had spells with Tottenham, Monaco and Chelsea in his playing career.
