The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) conducts the civil service examination (CSE) annually. To clear the CSE, candidates have to clear three stages: the preliminary examination, the main examination and the interview. Every year, thousands of students prepare for years to appear for the examinations. The UPSC is all set to conduct the CSE Prelims examination tomorrow, June 16 across various centres in the country for over 44,000 aspirants.
The General Studies test will be administered in the morning session from 9.30 am to 11.30 am, while the CSAT paper will be administered in the afternoon session from 2.30 pm to 4 pm. Earlier on June 7, the hall tickets for the examination were also released by UPSC. Ahead of the preliminary examination, the UPSC has announced a list of important exam-day instructions that have to be followed by all the candidates.
UPSC CSE 2024 Prelims: Exam Day Guidelines to Follow
Here is a list of guidelines that are needed to be followed by the candidates:

–– Candidates are also required to bring their photo IDs on the day of prelims. The number of copies will depend on the number mentioned on the e-admit card.
–– A candidate whose photograph on his/her e-Admit Card is not clear or the photograph is without his/her name and date of the photograph will have to bring a photo identity card along with two passport-size photographs, along with an undertaking.
–– If a candidate has any discrepancies in their e-admit card, they will have to immediately inform the Commission by email at [email protected].
–– Another important instruction is that gates for entry will be closed 30 minutes before the examination timings, i.e., 9:00 am for the morning session and 2:00 pm for the afternoon session. No candidate would be allowed to enter the examination hall after the gates are closed.

–– Candidates will not be allowed to enter premises with objects like valuables/costly items, mobile phones, smart/digital watches, other IT gadgets, books, bags, etc.
–– If anyone brings prohibited items to the venue, they will have to make arrangements to keep them outside the venue. The commission won’t be responsible for the safety of these objects.
–– Inside the examination hall, candidates will only be allowed to take their e-admit card, pen, pencil, identity proof, copies of self-photographs (whichever is applicable) and any other items as specified in the instructions for the e-admit card to the venue.
–– If any candidate is found with prohibited items inside the examination hall, they will be entailed in disciplinary action, which includes cancellation of their candidature, filing of an FIR or police complaint against the candidate and prohibition from appearing in subsequent sessions or days of the examination.
–– Candidates should bring a black ballpoint pen to fill out the OMR sheet and attendance sheet.
–– Candidates are only allowed to bring simple wristwatches to the examination hall. Smartwatches or watches that support any sort of communication are strictly prohibited.
–– Those candidates who have changed their names after matriculation by adopting due process of law must carry the e-admit card, a government-issued photo identity card and/or the original Gazette notification of the changed name for each exam session.
